The Cow or the Can?

Another day in the struggle to wean the young man. We tried something a little unorthodox and potentially unwise. According to most pediatric opinion milk is out for the first year of a baby’s development, although like most things there are differing opinions on the matter. Anyway, we have yet to have success of more than about an ounce of formula so we decided to try a 2 ounce bottle of milk. After the usual displeasure Sean actually started to drink from the bottle like he knew what he was doing. As a matter of fact when I had to withdraw the instrument of torture upon his completion he threw a fit. Of course this just makes a difficult situation even more difficult…now we have to see how reliable the minority opinion is on the matter of dairy and if we can specifically identify the risks involved. I see the situation as using this method to acclimate the young man to the bottle and shift the contents to formula a little at a time to ease his transition to the foul tasting goo. I just don’t understand why the breast milk and cow’s milk can be sweet tasting but they can’t seem to get formula to pass the stench test. We’ll get him there. As for the girl…she is really going through a phase of naked baby syndrome. She screams with joy and runs through the kitchen and living room bare-assed whenever her clothes hit the floor. If you tell her you are going to get her heinie she beams and almost points her little fannie in your direction daring you to get her. It seems she has gotten over her illness and is back to being our happy little girl. Good stuff.
